CYPRUS. Salamis. Euelthon (?), circa 530/15-480. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 11.33 g). ๐ ๐ „๐ ณ-๐ ๐ ฐ๐ š ('[E-u-fe-le-tho-ne]' in Cypriot syllabic script) (?) Ram recumbent left. Rev. Ankh-like symbol with ๐ Ž ('ku' in Cypriot syllabic script) in center within incuse square, corners of incuse decorated with sprays of leaves. BMC 17. Tziambazis 100. Struck from worn dies and the obverse somewhat off center, otherwise, fine.

Interestingly, a parallel to the ankh with the Cypriot character 'ku' can also be found on the porphyry sarcophagus from the Hagia Eirene in Constantinople dated 800-900 years later, (proposed by Bardill (2012, chapter 5) to be the sarcophagus for Constantine I), and on late antique Coptic textiles (e.g. Victoria & Albert Museum inv. O119197), where a star and a chi-rho (and other symbols) alternate in different ankhs.
